Real World Economics of Hucow Farming
The surprisingly strong economic case for hucow farming.
When writing about hucows in my fictional setting I never assumed it would actually make a lot of money and others have remarked on this as well. I think both me and my followers have assumed that realistically speaking you could not make a profitable business on hucow farming.
Well now I have done some investigation. It turns out we were all very wrong. In fact Hucow farming would in principle be a very profitable business.
Wired ran an article called Liquid Gold: The Booming Market for Human Breast Milk. A mother, Desiree Espinoza, told story about how she sold breast milk for $2 per ounce. The asking price is typically $1 to $2.5 per ounce. Producing 30 ounces per day she could make about $22000 per year. A considerable amount. But not exactly rich.
Well here is the kicker: How much milk a woman produce varies considerably.
An Oregon mother Elisabeth Anderson-Sierra with what is called hyperlactation syndrome produces 200 ounces per day. With a price of say 1 to 2.5 dollar per ounce that translates into an income of 73,000 to 182,500 dollars per year!
That is serious money. This is milk production in the real world and not in my fictional world which is in the future and where we can allow for various unethical drugs and deliberate unethical practices to grow breasts and increase milk production. Say we are conservative and only double the max production. That means one hucow in Neo Dixie could produce an income of 365,000 dollars.
Let us consider hucow farmer Carter Evans. He has 12 hucows at his operation. That would translate to an income of 4.4 million dollars per year. That is money Carter Evans would make without even prostituting his hucows. In other words the theoretical case for hucow farming is actually surprisingly good.
Does it matter? Well to me it matters because I really aim to make my world as realistic as possible while meeting the goals for being a sex fantasy world.
