Airship LZ-42 Noctilucent

The LZ-42 Noctilucent is a massive Imperial Airship. At a length of 400 meters it completely dwarfs large airplanes such as the Antonov An-225 which is 84 meters or the Airbus A380 which is 72 meter. The same applies to the lifting capacity. The Anatov can lift 250 tons, while a C-5M Super Galaxy can lift 127 tons. A Skard class airship like the LZ-42 Noctilucent can lift a whopping 810 tons. That makes it more similar in lifting capacity to ships than airplanes.

  • Length: 400 m
  • Diameter: 67.2 m
  • Volume: 867,000 m³
  • Gross Lift: ~953.7 tons (using hydrogen)
  • Operational Weight: ~143.6 tons
  • Net Lifting Capacity (Cargo): ~810 tons
  • Speed: 160 km/h)

The LZ-42 Noctilucent is commanded by commander Vorin Adlerkrantz, who is the head of the Imperial Norwegian airship fleet.

LZ-42 Noctilucent is the airship reoccuring in many of my Imperial Norway stories. It is featured in the following story:

Imperial Norway 2053 - Vieregg’s World
We follow a rescue mission composed of a sexist incompetent asshole, a busty redhead with an anger management problem, lead by a gruff sergeant from Northern Norway who cannot stand either of them. All to rescue a psychotic war criminal turned into a human milking cow. What could possibly go wrong?

You can learn more about the reason for Imperial Norway using airships rather than airplanes in the technology section:

Technology of Imperial Norway 2053
Let us look at the common technology we surround ourselves with today and how it differs in the world of 2053.

Docking at Qvam Tower

Airships of course don't land on runways like planes but tend to dock with tall towers such as the Oslo aerodrome tower Qvam Tower.
