Novalux is one of the world’s largest media and optical technology companies. Founded in the early twenty-first century, the company initially specialized in high-reliability optical storage systems for government, military, scientific, and industrial applications.
The company’s reputation was built on durability, long-term archival storage, and advanced optical engineering. While much of the technology sector focused on cloud services and subscription platforms, Novalux concentrated on preserving information for decades or even centuries.
This expertise eventually led to the development of Sapphire-Glass Optical Media (SGOM), a family of highly durable optical storage technologies designed for long-term preservation of data and media.

Novalux entered the consumer market with the introduction of GlassDisc, a physical media format that combined modern optical storage technology with the permanence and ownership traditionally associated with books, records, and film. The format proved enormously successful among both consumers and content creators, eventually becoming one of the dominant media distribution platforms of the mid-twenty-first century.

Today Novalux is best known as the creator of GlassDisc and SGOM technology, though the company remains active in a wide range of optical, archival, and imaging technologies. Its products are found everywhere from public libraries and home entertainment systems to research institutions, transportation systems, and government archives.
The company’s slogan, “The Future Is Physical,” became one of the most recognizable marketing phrases of the 2040s and 2050s.
