Qvam Tower is however not merely built for docking. It is also built as a Flak Tower. It has thick walls to tolerate heavy bombardment. It works as an air raid shelter for the Oslo population. It has massive supplies of food, water and ammunition. The tower is armed with anti aircraft guns and rocket batteries. Due to its elevation it can also easily target invaders approaching on land or at sea.
